“Have you ever imagined a village-level crop MAP? Here you go.
Well, I have never thought about it. In fact, I always think of, how the Govt. is taking the agriculture data from villages. Is our crop data included? May or may not as crop acreages are estimated at the state or district level, but are not marked or verified on the map. So, for the first time, a village-level crop map has launched by RMSI. Let’s have a look at it.
RMSI Cropalytics, a start-up, and a subsidiary of geospatial and engineering solutions company RMSI have launched what it calls the first village-level crop map in the country.
The start-up focuses on advanced modeling, machine learning, and agri-meteorological domain expertise to provide detailed information and data analytics on agriculture.
The crop map shows the geolocation of sown acreage during the current cropping season in high resolution which will give a clear idea of cultivated Vs uncultivated land.
RMSI Cropalytics will provide end-to-end analytics solutions to decision-makers in government, crop insurance, the agri-input sector, commodity trading, and the social sector.
The crop map will enable multiple agri-tech applications, including remote farm monitoring, weather risk management, crop/ pest detection, and yield estimation, and expedite digital adoption in the agri-ecosystem.
Wow, impeccable excellent idea. This is going to bring a new digital revolution to agriculture. What do you think?
Credit financing to farmers was launched by Gramophone
We have NABARD, RRBs, many national banks, NBFCs, and Microfinance banks but still, there is a gap seen in financing the farmers. So, the private sectors rush through it. Let’s see about Gramophone today.
Gramophone is an AgTech platform that helps farmers achieve better yields by providing information and input planning. It has partnered with Saraloan and Rupifi to offer credit to Agri input retailers with credit limits up to ₹5 lakh.
The cost of loan origination and management are major obstacles to lending to the farming ecosystem.
Gramophone solves these problems with the network of micro-entrepreneurs and digital infrastructure to manage the last mile operations.” said Tauseef Khan, Co-Founder & CEO, of Gramophone.
Through its alliance with Jai Kisan, Gramophone allows farmers to repay the loan in four months. This is kept in such a fashion that helps farmers collect the cash from their output sales first and then settle their loans.
Why, “One Nation, One Fertilizer”?
The major reason is approximately 80-90 percent of the cost of production of fertilizers is being paid to the fertilizer manufacturers in the form of subsidies by the government, whereas companies used to sell the products under their own brands without mentioning the government’s contribution.
Another reason for the launch of single-brand fertilizer is to reduce transport subsidies, estimated to be over ₹6,000 crore per year, which is 100 percent passed on to the companies to keep the retail prices under check.
The third reason is, that though the government has been tweaking rules on where fertilizers can be sold from the point of a plant’s location, some companies still sell them at different places where other factories are located.
Under the nutrient-based subsidy plan, the Centre has fixed nitrogen subsidy for the current Kharif season at ₹91.96/kg (against ₹18.78/kg last year), phosphorous at ₹72.74/kg (₹45.32), potash at ₹25.31/kg (₹10.11) and sulfur at ₹6.94/kg (₹2.37).
The government’s annual fertilizer subsidy bill is likely to be over ₹2 lakh crore during this fiscal because of high international prices, whereas the budget allocation is ₹1.05 lakh crore.
I highly appreciate the decision taken by the cabinet.
