Its time to make “Drones” a star
A round table discussion on “AgLab — Connecting Innovators” was organized by ThinkAg and CropLife India where the joint secretary from the union ministry of agriculture and startup founders attended.
As we know, honorable finance minister Srimati Nirmala Sitaraman proposed the application of drones in agriculture. in the current budget. But yet there is no accessibility by the Indian farmers to it.
In the round table discussion, Shomita Biswas, a joint secretary in the union agriculture ministry said that “It is time to make drones accessible for farmers. There are over 200 start-ups, engaged in manufacturing and providing drone services in agriculture, who will play a pivotal role.”
Also, she adds that “Empanelling with the State governments and becoming custom hiring centers themselves are the critical next steps for start-ups.”
“Youth will be the ambassadors of drone technology and hence we must leverage this segment”, she said.
“Drone applications including spraying, crop health monitoring, and data collection will be transformative for Indian agriculture,” said Hemendra Mathur, Co-founder of ThinkAg.
It will be a great future If drone technology will take the role to make operations easy and reliable. We can achieve efficiency in nutrient and pesticide application resulting in a better yield. What do you think about this?

Cut in FY23 GDP growth
Domestic rating agency Crisil on Friday lowered its real GDP growth forecast for India to 7.3 percent in FY23 from 7.8 percent estimated earlier.
Inflation, which has been pegged to average at 6.8 percent in FY23 as against 5.5 percent in FY22, reduces purchasing power and would weigh on the revival of consumption—the largest component of GDP which has been backsliding for a while, the agency said.
Crisil said there is a slew of negatives like high commodity prices, elevated freight prices, drag on exports as global growth projections get lowered, and the largest demand-side driver of private consumption remains weak.

Bengaluru-based start-up Alswamitra Botanicals LLP has launched an initiative in tribal hamlets in South India.

The NGO is into reviving indigenous seeds and has a bank of tens of thousands of seeds. For example, it has seeds of over 29,000 varieties of rice.

A Russian firm Lysterra LLC engaged in making crop protection products has evinced interest in the encapsulation technology (bio-capsule) developed and patented by the Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR) Kozhikode for crops.
Microbial encapsulation technology ensures the successful delivery of biologically competent beneficial microbes. IISR inked the agreement with Lysterra LLC for the commercialization of this technology.
“One capsule can be diluted using 100-200 liters of water based on the micro-organism present in the capsule,” IISR scientists said.
“It does not contain any harmful residual and the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides can be minimized,” the scientists added.
Kudos to the “science” which is leveraging the hope of existence rather than the presence of many dugs in its way.
